Welcome to SPEECH – a research project conducted at The University of Manchester.

Our aim is to improve health communication and reduce risks to patient safety. Specifically, to help people aged 65+ with multiple long-term conditions – multimorbidity (MLTC-M) talk to and be heard by staff from their General Practices.

To do this, we have:

1. Developed a better understanding of how people aged 65+ with multiple (that is, two or more) long-term conditions talk to doctors and other staff from General Practices.
2. Designed materials to provide information and guidance on how to improve communication.
3. Found out if the materials make sense and if people would be happy to use them.
